Behavioral Health Services

Our behavioral health program connects students with one of PM Behavioral Health’s licensed pediatric mental health experts over a teletherapy visit at the request of the school initiator. We provide social and emotional support for students to optimize their learning potential. Our therapists will meet with students to assess their needs and provide a plan of care. In most cases students will be seen for 2-5 visits to provide education and skills to improve their social emotional health. If more services are required, we will work with families to connect them with resources in the community. PM School Health Behavioral Health is available to children and young adults in grades K-12 for non-emergency mental health conditions including:

  • School and social anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD and behavioral disorders
  • PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

PM Pediatric Care is a pediatrician-led company that provides acute care, behavioral health, and school health services across the country. As the only national healthcare company focused on the quality and innovation of pediatric care, we make providing whole child-care more accessible and easier to understand for families. Your child will be seen by a PM School Health specialist. Our PM School Health specialists include physicians who are board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, child psychologists, child therapists, and care managers. All our PM School Health specialists are experts in pediatrics and licensed to practice medicine in your state.
Our providers are trained and certified in school law for lending extended mental health care access during the school day. We follow the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) law, school education code, and school board policies. We support students utilizing the District Health Policies as well as parent and district contacting, informing, and reporting procedures.

Parents/guardians should contact your school district to see if your school is enrolled and inquire about next steps.

PM School Health provides both physical and mental health services to schools. Each school district decides which of these services they would like to be offered to their students. Please check with your school to determine which services are offered in your school district.

There is no cost for services at the time of the visit and no student will be turned away from services due to lack of insurance. For those families who have health insurance, PM Pediatric Care will collect this insurance information at time of registration and will submit the claim to your insurance company for services provided. Your insurance company will determine any additional financial responsibilities based on your individual policy. If your child is uninsured, you will not receive a bill for these services.

Visits are scheduled by a student’s school personnel. You may request that your child be seen by contacting your school. Physical health visits may be requested on demand by a designated member of your child’s school.

Mental health visits may be scheduled during a time of day that does not interfere with a student’s academic classes by a designated member of your child’s school.

Parents/guardians can be added to a physical health visit virtually (phone or video) upon request. Parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in part of the behavioral health visits virtually either by phone or video as appropriate for age and condition.

After a physical health visit, discharge summaries will be sent to parents/guardians via secure email or text. It is important a child’s medical home is aware of all care and we will send a copy of the visit summary to your child’s medical home on record.

Mental health specialists will provide updates over the course of treatment via phone, secure text and /or secure e-mail. Once the student’s goals are met, the clinician will provide a summary with further recommendations if needed via secure email or text. It is important that a child’s medical home is aware of all care a child receives so we will send a summary of care to your child’s medical home on record.

Our virtual visits are fully HIPAA compliant and secure. You can be assured that your child’s conversations with the clinician and records are secure and private.

All prescriptions will be e-prescribed to the pharmacy of your choice.

The PM Pediatric Health specialist can create a work or school excuse note, which can be easily be received via secure email or text.

In some instances, the clinician may discover a more serious condition that requires your child to be seen in person for a more thorough examination or testing that is not available at school. In these cases, our clinician will work with your school’s designated personnel to facilitate the appropriate referral.
